Ageing bridges and the disruption that their maintenance was causing in the busy Hunter region was the impetus for the Muswellbrook Bridge Replacement Project.

Members of our team were engaged by Laing O’Rourke as the temporary works consultant for this project, involved in a variety of ways including:

  • Detailed design of the castyard formwork for the 180m long incrementally launched U girder at close proximity to a live railway line

  • Detailed design of the temporary propping system for the Bridge Street underbridge

  • Detailed design of various temporary works items such as footings, propping, reinforcement jig, temporary stabilising frame, lifting beams etc.

  • Methodology review for the installation of a temporary sheetpile wall with limited on-site access for a piling rig

  • Independent review & inspections of various temporary items such as formwork & propping
