Monuments for Fishes

The Waterman’s Cove precinct of the Barangaroo redevelopment has just welcomed the installation of a large-scale marine artwork by Mikala Dwyer called “Monuments for Fishes”. The engineering challenge was how to make her metres-high artwork look like it was floating and bobbing effortlessly in the water. Reneo was engaged to design the underwater piling for the project.

The engineering solution needed to overcome some challenges including the installation of piles in a sensitive life harbour environment and the installation of an underwater ring beam, all the while coordinating with the artwork designer to achieve the vision for the artwork.
